Guided salmon and steelhead fishing on Southern Oregon's Rogue, Umpqua and Chetco

Spring Chinook Salmon (aka "Springers")
Peak Dates: May throughout July
Techniques: Back-Bouncing & Pulling Plugs

Spring Chinook Salmon enter the Umpqua and Rogue Rivers in April and we target them throughout August. They're some of the hardest fighting, best eating fish you'll catch while on the river with us. Growing upwards of 30 pounds, Rogue and Umpqua River "Springers" are the largest in the state of Oregon.

An early start is key to getting to the biting fish before someone else does. It's not uncommon to be on the water at 4:30 in the morning.

Quality sardines, sand shrimp and cured salmon roe is what you can expect to use while fishing with us. Good bait drastically increases the amount of bites you get throughout the day.

Back-bouncing roe tipped with sand shrimp is the most effective method we use for Spring Salmon. Pulling plugs wrapped with sardine fillets is also a great technique for consistently getting these fish to the boat.
