Spring Chinook Salmon are the most challenging, yet most rewarding fish that we target here in Oregon. These scrappy salmon are in my opinion the best eating salmon in the world! We've been catching a lot of wild fish in 2016, a good indicator of a healthy fishery. Wild fish have to be returned to the river right now but in July anglers can harvest wild salmon below dodge bridge. You can identify hatchery and wild fish by the adipose fin which is located above the tail.

Wild Fish: Notice the adipose fin is present, which means this fish was released after a quick photo. |

Hatchery Fish: Notice the adipose fin is absent, which means this fish went on the BBQ! |
