I'm back in the Rogue Valley but I was lucky enough to be working in Alaska for Dustin and Jessica Russell of Russell Fishing Company for the past month. Top of the line outfit and a great choice when you're deciding where to go for your Alaska Adventure. I was Fishing on the Kasilof River, about 15 minutes from the Kenai RIver which both empty into the Cook Inlet. There were lots of chrome bright Sockeye Salmon moving through the rivers everyday during the season and there are big King Salmon up to 50 + pounds and even bigger on the Kenai. While I was there in July someone got a 72 pound King on the Kenai that was caught and Released!
I also got to get out on the salt water and yard on some Halibut with Capt. Zach Hancock of Roseburg, OR. He also works for Russell Fishing CO. running one of the two salt boats in Dustin's fleet. Zach and Dustin are both great captains and all of the other 6 guides that I was living with were great guys and very knowledgeable,
Most clients coming from the lower states book a week with Russell Fishing Company and they get to fish for Sockeye, Kings, Silvers, Pinks, Rainbows and Dollies, on the Kenai & Kasilof Rivers and they also fish two or three days on the Salt boats for halibut and salmon. There are many other options too! They're busy every summer from May to September so if you're thinking about booking a trip up there,..Call sooner rather than later (907) 398-0053 or (541) 254-0679
