Guided salmon and steelhead fishing on Southern Oregon's Rogue, Umpqua and Chetco

Fighting Fires In Northern California in 2013

For most of the 2013 summer months I wasn't on the Rogue River but instead Northern California on the Salmon River fighting fires in a remote, but very beautiful part of the state.
I wasn't able to do much fishing but there were plenty of fall King Salmon and summer steelhead migrating up the crystal clear river that I could look at from the road. You can't fish this river which only made my case fish fever worse!
I did end up doing a bit of fishing on the Klamath River during my days off though. The summer steelhead shown below had a hard time letting a lure swim by them with out thrashing it due to very little pressure on the middle Klamath River! Both fish came on the first cast!

A school of King Salmon I got to look at every day on my way to the fire lines!
More King Salmon stacked below a cold creek mouth!
